Hank Burris
Graduating from West Stanley High school in 1992, Hank went on to North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem to study Lighting Design and Scenic Design. During this time his interest became more focused on fine art and away from design. 1995-2007 his life became focused in the health care industry and earning money. In 2007, he had the opportunity to return to his pursuit in art. 2008 he graduated from Central Piedmont Community College with an Associate in Fine Arts. There he studied more in watercolor and concentrated on ceramics. Currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte he is continuing his studies in Ceramics. His sculptures are focused on emotional and moral ideals and how they affect individuals in society. Fall of 2008 he created a series on the seven virtues. Love, Faith, Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude, Hope and Justice were portrayed as abstract architectural skeletons to invoke retrospection in individuals and how they affect the people around them. His current project is on emotions and how society, politics, family and environment influence our reactions.
